RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I'm still thinking it has something to do with the blinkers. I remember talking to a Harley tech about the alarm (I don't have one) and he mentioned something about all the weird stuff that has to be replaced to install the alarm. I seem to recall that the directionals were one of the parts that needed to be replaced. I'll have to dive into the wiring diagram and see if anything pops out.

The directionals are hooked into the security system some how. Do you have the alarm/fob/security dealio on your bike?

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Near as I can figure gray is to the ignition circuit via the run/stop switch and hooks into the data link connector and the TSM/TSSM module. Looks like the gray is the power source in the ignition circuit. There is a 15 amp fuse associated with that circuit. If its light green with red that comes out of the data link connector to the ALDL & flash pin connector (whatever that is). If it is green with red then that goes to the cruise control from the speedo (or vice versa). If you don't have cruise control that may explain why that plug was open. Black is ground. The ignition fuse is under the left side cover two below the brake light relay (the only relay with 2 fuses below it). It should be blue and hopefully blown. Hope that gets you on the road.

There is a maxi fuse on the left side of the bike under the cover. Its a big mutha. Take a peek at that one while you're at it. What color are the wires going to the plug you hooked into? I have the wiring diagram and can look it up.

Stop in at the General Store in Aladdin. Moon pies and Nehi's. Population - 15 (could have sworn it was 16 in 2003 when I stopped by for gas. Just past Hulett on 24.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

I still ride with one of my buddies from high school. Sometimes its the two of us with his wife and my girlfriend or one of his buddies from work. We always ride staggered unless he waves me up to discuss where the next turn is. The guy is a walking talking atlas. He knows roads all over the place and how to get to them all without ever consulting a map. I get lost going around the block. It makes for a good combo. His buddy couldn't care less where in line he is when we go riding.
In Jersey I frequently have people pulling up next to me in my lane. Unfortunately they are usually in cages. If they can fit in the lane they do. I usually explain why they shouldn't be where they are and many just plain don't get it or think there isn't a good reason that they can't pass me in my lane. Don't know if it is a Jersey thing but it seems to be where I encounter it the most.

RE: Anybody like the new Road King Custom?

Hey now,
The truck project is slow but good. I'm in the middle of rewiring the entire truck; the wires themselves are fine, but the old '60's insulation decays and you end up with shorts and fires. So, rewiring is a pain but it's ultimately cheap insurance. I also picked up a billet HEI distributor and an alternator to make things more reliable. I hope to start her up soon.
On the bike front, I'm not sure, but the FJR1300A (the "shift-it-yourself" version, of course), the Ulysses, and the F800GS are on the radar. After I win the lottery, I'd like to add the CrossBones (hate the name, like the bike) to the stable. If you have an extra 20G's laying around that you don't know what to do with, let me know...
How about you? What have you been up to?
Greenman.
Let me know if you're looking for something. I still have some 292 cu.in parts kicking around. All yours if you need them.

Finally have a prospective buyer for my father's house. Been working over there to get everything up to snuff. Inspection went well enough but it looks like the buyer was moving the pen. With everything that I've done over there I should just buy it myself. Can't wait to be finished.

Gringo,
You have a place to stay here in GA too! The tail of the dragon is not to far away... Atlanta is about an hour away as well.
GK
Look for a bunch of MR2 Spyder guys on Highway 129 this weekend. They started at the Burger King in Cumming, GA and headed on up from there.

G- I had no idea you were an X-IT guy also. 10 years with ATT/IBM working on mainframes and PC/Mainframe applications, and analysis. Did a stint as a testing project leader and finished with outsource training. Go figure.

RE: Visability for headlight and tail light

When I got t-boned by a tractor trailer the driver said in court that I was speeding, on the wrong side of the double yellow, passing a blue Chevy without my headlight on (it was still light out). I asked why did he pull out from the stop sign? In court, under oath, in front of the judge and lawyer he replied "I didn't see you." The judge told his attorney that he was disregarding his clients testimony and that he should remind his client of the penalties of perjury. Since none of the stuff he said I was doing ever happened I can only believe his answer that he didn't see me.
Most of the people who don't see you never look. Since I have to have the headlights on during the day I switch them to high beam. A little bit more noticeable. I would rather have my brake light go from on to off than lit to brighter but the powers that be have decided for us. I'll have to check those lights out.
